I have heard so many times from my friends and followers that they dont have time to properly take care of their skin. When you are rushing in the morning or just tired and ready to go to bed, taking a bunch of steps can seem like an overwhelming task. To help you get in the habit of maintaining beautiful, healthy skin, I have broken down all the steps into just 5 minutes! No matter how busy you are, I KNOW you can take 5 minutes to take care your skin; after all, your face is the first thing people see!
Establish a 5 Minute Skincare Routine
Step 1: Cleanse ~ Estimated Time: 1 Minute
The cleansing phase contains three parts. 1) If you have on makeup use a makeup remover before you wash your face. 2) Cleanse your skin with a cleanser designed for your skin type. Typically, gentle cleansers are great for sensitive skin, cream cleansers work best for dry skin, foaming cleansers are best for combination skin and cleansers with Salicylic acid, Benzoyl peroxide or Glycolic acid are good for oily and acne prone skin. remember to cleanse with warm, NEVER hot water, and to pat the skin dry.
Step 2: Treat ~ Estimated Time: 30 Seconds
The treatment of serum phase is to address a specific skin care concern you may have. You may be concerned about acne, dryness, large pores, oiliness, hyperpigmintation, or redness to name a few. There are thousands of products out there, but if you are lost on where to start, I always recommend going to see a dermatologist or seeing an Esthetician for a facial. They can look at the skin from a deeper level and help guide you in what skin concerns to address. You may also have a treatment product you use during hte day and one at night. Again, this will depend on what issue(s) you are trying to address.
Step 3: Eye Cream ~ Estimated Time: 30 Seconds
Let me start by saying you dont have to be 40 to start thinking about eye cream. The skin under your eyes is more delicate that the rest of your face and does deserve special attention. All eye creams are not just for wrinkles. If you are in your 20’s use an eye cream for moisturizing. In your 30’s, like me, start thinking about wrinkle prevention. I have been using Precision MD iQuad Infusion Total Eye Complex for 2 years and love it! If you are in your 40’s and older wrinkle prevention and treatment is key! There are many eye creams that address anything from the first sign of wrinkles to serious wrinkle treatment.
Wait 2 minutes
Why you say? Well, once you have applied your skin concern treatment and eye cream, the products need time to settle in your skin and get to work before applying moisturizer. Take time two minute time to brush your teeth or starting getting ready for your day or bedtime. I usually set my timer on my phone and you would be surprised how fast 2 minutes goes by!
Step 4: Moisturize ~ Estimated Time: 1 Minute
This is the final step before putting or makeup or going to bed that people often skip. No matter your skin type, even oily skin needs to moisturize! Skin that is dehydrated can look flaky, patchy and even lead to signs of premature aging! Similar to finding the right cleanser, find a moisturizer designed for your skin type.
