2015 Golden Globes Best Dressed

The 2015 Award season has officially kicked off with the Golden Globes party last night! I can honestly say the red carpet wasn’t too bad and as always, I enjoy when Tina and Amy host.

Now, lets jump right into my picks for Best Dressed

I wanted to talk about Emma Stone in Lanvin first. I am a sucker for a good jumpsuit and I absolutely love the fact that she stepped on the red carpet wearing an evening jumpsuit. Such a smart choice to stand out from the crowd. Emma Stone in Lanvin at the Golden Globes

This Zuhair Murad gown is such a signature look for JLo. She will probably request to be buried in a high slit, low cut dress. She has an amazing body and can pull this off at anytime for any occasion. What really elevated this for me, was the cape aspect of the gown.

Chrissy Teigen also had her moment in Zuhair Murad on the red carpet. She knows how to work a red carpet gown and this award season I think we will see a lot more great things from her. Her husband John Legend won for Best Original Song and I there is buzz that he is set to be nominated for an Oscar as well.

Awkward Looks

Keira Knightley in Chanel was a disappointment for me. The lace was extremely matronly and unflattering. Plus, the pattern of the fabric was too junior…like a cute summer dress you would find in any mall store, but not on a Hollywood red carpet. And the butterfly bracelet was overkill.

Lena Dunham never gets it quite right for me on the red carpet. She needs a new stylist ASAP. She is young, talented, proud of her body and doesn’t feel the need to conform to Holloyood standards. However, this Zac Posen gowns does nothing for her shape. She actually looks like she is drowning in red fabric. The seams in the dress actually enlarge her shape and the hem makes her look shorter. Kerry Washington had the same problem Lena had: seams and hemlines. The Mary Katranzou dress would have looked 1000% better if the hem was floor length and the color blocking flowed with the “A line” seam in the bottom half.

And then there was Amal (aka Mrs Clooney) and these GLOVES! Her dress is a stunning Dior gown, but who can notice it with the stark, white, elbow length ushering gloves! She told Ryan Seacrest in her red carpet interview that the gloves were her own and that is the precise place where she went wrong. No stylist can be blamed for this. She was dressed just fine and thought “Oh I know, I’ll add my white gloves.” She should have followed Coco Chanel’s classic rule: “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” In this case I would add two thing- the left glove and the right glove.
