Oh the Met Gala! Each year, celebrities from fashion, music, movies, television and athletes attend the Met Ball to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum’s (The Met) fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. The event, hosted by Vogue magazine, grabs the attention of fashion lovers everywhere and has even be hailed as the “Oscars” of fashion. This year’s theme was “Punk: Chaos To Couture” and the red carpet was a plethora of looks from all over the punk spectrum. So lets dive right into my picks for the 2013 Met Gala Best Dressed.
1. Katie Holmes In Calvin Klein
If a punk gal were getting married, THIS is what she would wear. I totally loved this look. It was airy and I loved the straps of fabric in the train.
2. Cameron Diaz In Stella McCartney
The color of the dress is perfect for Cameron’s skin color and it compliments her eyes. The spiked belt detail adds a bit of punk without it being too in your face. And of course the caplet gown with the slight train is just stunning.
3. Solange Knowles In Kenzo
4. Anne Hathaway In Valentino
Mix together shear, sparkles, fringe, black and punk and what you will end up with is Anne Hathaway’s dress. It’s edgy yet elegant and addresses the punk theme in a sophisticated way.
5. Miley Cyrus In Marc Jacobs
Miley is getting a lot of hate for her Met gala look, but because the theme was punk, I am going to giver her a pass for her hair and makeup. She was trying a little too hard, but thank the heavens for this Marc Jacobs dress. It literally saved her look from being on my worst dressed. The netted dress with nude underlining was a perfect fit for the theme of the event. Kudos to Marc!
