For aspiring fashion designers , going from making your clothes in your at home studio to having them mass produced can be a huge step! Designer Tarsha Williams shares with us her process for choosing a production company:
Deciding which production company to work with depends primarily on 2 things: 1) your budget and 2) the credibility of the company. When deciding which production company to go with your budget is a huge factor. Most companies have minimum orders, the tricky thing is the larger the minimum the lower the bulk cost. The lower the minimum the higher the bulk cost. For instance, there maybe a company that has a 1000/piece/color(minimum) but cost $10 each vs a company that has 100/piece/color(minimum) for $25 each.
If you are a small independent designer you would most likely go with the latter but would have to up the cost of your items for retail sale. As in most cases, its always a great idea to get referrals from others as to which companies are best to work with. If you do not know of anyone personally, you can search for people through local boutiques, designers or even internet.
