The Journey to Spring Part 10: Choosing the Right Models

Ever designer has to go through the process of choosing the right models for a photo shoot or to walk a runway, but what is the best way of going about doing that? Designer Tarsha Williams gives us some insight to her process for choosing her models for her Spring 2013 Collection.

“When choosing models it is very important to me that I choose models with different ethnic backgrounds so that potential customers of all nationalities can relate. Finding the right model can be difficult. Social networks such as Facebook has been a great way to connect with models I wouldn’t otherwise meet and it gives you and opportunity to see who he/she looks and moves on camera.
Also, when choosing models it’s important to choose one that fits the style of your clothing. If you have an edgy line than you want a model that reflects that. If your line is more commercial line then you may want to try a model who has more of a girl next door appeal.

It’s important to know what you want your customers to think or feel about your line before choosing a model. It makes the search a little easier.”
